Stacey Salmon

If you ever visit our headquarters in Canberra, Stacey will probably be the first person to greet you as you walk in the door.

A proud Ngunnawal woman, Stacey was born in Nowra on the south coast of NSW and grew up in Tallimba, central west NSW. Staying in NSW, she has called Queanbeyan home for 15 years and now works in Canberra.

Prioritising raising her family first, Stacey started working as a tutor at her children’s school. Her career since then includes working as an Aboriginal Education Officer liaising between parents and staff, placing tutors with students and organising after school courses and activities; completing an Indigenous traineeship with the Department of Immigration and Border Protection (now Dept of Home Affairs) where she honed her skills in office administration before joining us at AILC.

Stacey said what originally attracted her to working at AILC was that the organisation works to better the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders. “AILC courses and training can help my people in the long run,” she said.
